When Jessica started working with my horse, it was such a relief and pleasant surprise to discover how natural her training techniques were. Her methods are based around mutual respect and trust, always communicating in a way the horse understands, working with their natural instincts rather than against them. Jessica takes to heart the goals of the horse owner/ rider and develops a plan that allows both the horse and rider to reach their full potential. Through groundwork and in the saddle, the horse is able to quickly and clearly understand her expectation, while being positively reinforced along the way. Jessica’s explanations and reasoning are simple and easy to understand, allowing the individual working with the horse to continue with the training techniques outside the lesson environment.
For Jessica, things do not just stop outside of the lessons. She has been instrumental in helping out on many farms, addressing issues regarding feeding, herd management, safety, and an overall holistic approach to equine health. Jessica enjoys any chance she has to educate individuals, either familiar with the equine industry or new to it. She enjoys hosting clinics and seems to always be looking for other ways to further her education.
Jessica is not only my trainer and the first person I go to with any horse related questions, but has become a very close friend. Jessica is an amazing individual. She is always positive and encouraging. You just can’t help but be inspired by her. I met Jessica 4 years ago, shortly after losing my first equine companion. At that time, I had no desire to continue with horses, despite owning a yearling. I was feeling a wide range of emotions, being heartbroken over the loss of my gelding and completely overwhelmed by the attitude and spunk of my yearling, Luna. Luna had been in our family since birth, born as a surprise to my mother’s new mare. I had tried several different trainers with different techniques that were not conducive to the way Luna learns. I was uncomfortable with the methods they were using. Luna immediately responded to the approach Jessica uses. Jessica helped me to move on from the mistakes I felt I had made with my gelding towards a positive and healthy new direction with Luna and all other horses in which I interact. For that, I am truly grateful.
Most of us have some kind of past in the horse world. Jessica has helped me change the way I think, work and care for my horses. I can honestly say my horses are better off with all I have learnt from her. Jessica has made me a more compassionate and educated horse owner. Jessica is a horse lover, teacher and strong advocate for our equine friends.
